It is with great sadness that we report the following. On Monday, May 13th, second-grader Jaxon Ortiz was struck and killed while riding his bike near his home in Ladera Ranch, California. It was just before 6:30 p.m. and he rode off of the sidewalk into Orange Blossom Circle. Unfortunately, he did not yield to oncoming traffic and an Acura driving around the circle at about 15 mph struck him.
Support for Jaxon’s family
He is survived by his mother and father, 5-week-old brother, and 3-year-old sister. A neighbor of the family has created a Go Fund Me account to help raise money for Jaxon’s funeral and also to allow the parents to take time off from work following this tragic event. So far, $39,516 of the $50,000 goal has been raised.
We at Bike Legal would like to spread the word to help this family get the help they need.

Our team of attorneys at Bike Legal represent people who have been in bicycle accidents. We know the risks involved with riding bicycles, particularly when sharing the road with motor vehicles and urge all cyclists to proceed with great caution.
